Enterprise Load Balancer for Blockchain Nodes

The OnFinality Enterprise Load Balancer is a robust, institutional-grade service designed to intelligently distribute traffic across multiple blockchain nodes. It ensures high availability, optimal performance, and fault tolerance for applications interacting with blockchain networks.

Whether you're building a dApp, running indexers, or managing high-throughput transactional platforms, OnFinality’s Enterprise Load Balancer provides a scalable and secure way to interact with blockchain infrastructure - without managing the complexity of node orchestration yourself.

Key Features

Built-in high availability
Traffic is automatically rerouted away from unhealthy or unresponsive nodes, keeping your application online without manual failover.

Smarter geographic routing (Multi-Region)
Requests are directed to the closest and fastest node available, reducing latency and improving responsiveness for users around the world.

Supports modern protocols
Designed for both HTTP(S) and WebSocket traffic, making it compatible with a wide range of blockchain tools and services.

Live health monitoring
Each backend node is continuously checked for availability and performance, ensuring traffic is only routed to healthy instances.

Fine-grained access control
Restrict access to your endpoint with IP whitelisting, rate limits, and API key management, giving you control over how your service is used.

How It Works

Our load balancer sits in front of one or more clusters of blockchain nodes, managed and monitored by OnFinality. Incoming RPC or WebSocket requests are intelligently routed to the optimal backend node based on a combination of factors:

  • Node health

  • Geographic proximity

  • Historical response time

  • Current load

In the event of a node failure or degradation, the load balancer automatically reroutes traffic to healthy nodes - without impacting your application.

Use cases

1. Bridges

For: Bridges requiring guaranteed transaction throughput

Setup Tuned For: High Throughput, Uptime

2. Global Mining Farms

For: Teams managing globally distributed farms of miners which all need reliable and fast access to the blockchain - worldwide

Setup Tuned For: Global Latency, Fast Transactions, Uptime

Example:

3. Trader Exchanges, Custodial Services

For: Trader exchanges and custodial services who know that downtime and delays cost their customers millions, and their reputation even more

Tuned For: Fast Transactions, Uptime

4. Indexers

For: Teams running mission critical indexers, such as network scanners, who need to be the source of truth for a blockchain network - catching the latest block fast without skipping a beat.

Requests typically originate from a single location / server.

Setup Tuned For: High Throughput, Uptime

5. dApps such as Wallets

For: Large scale dApps and wallets, whose high level of global traffic warrants a dedicated distributed node pool

Tuned For: Global Latency, Uptime
